An evening of jazz

Bangkok's Ninth International Festival of Dance and Music presents three acts of jazz from Australia and the Netherlands. Australia's Coda Jazz Group will perform original compositions with a blend of classical rock, electronic and operatic, weaving a rich tapestry of beautifully textured music while Monsieur Camembert Jazz Group, lead by renown vocalist Yaron Hallis, brings their signature "Gyprock" explosion, which is the combination of folk, rock and jazz in Gypsy style. The group has won three Aria Awards and performed in many music festivals across Australia for the past eight years.

From the Netherlands, the Saskia Laroo Jazz Group promises an act of contemporary sounds, groovy rhythms, exciting solos and kicking rap vocals. Hailed as "Lady Miles of Europe", female trumpeter Saskia Laroo has performed with the likes of George Benson, Roy Hargrove and Courtney Pine and in festivals like Montreux Jazz Festival and the Sunset Festival in Japan.

The concert takes place at 7.30pm on Monday at Thailand Cultural Centre. Tickets are Bt400 to Bt1,500, available at Thaiticketmajor.

Daily reflections

Artist Kamin Lertchaiprasert is displaying his installation, "Life Everyday", at Tang Contemporary Art until October 31. The exhibition features 365 drawings and 365 sculptures.

Kamin reflects his experience of producing works and life through his artworks. The sculptures and drawings, when viewed together, interplay and overlap meanings and the significance in the daily experiences of the artist in the same way their time-value shifts between aesthetics and symbolism.

The gallery is located in the basement of Silom Galleria on Silom Soi 19 and is open from 11am to 7pm Monday to Saturday.
