Audio

Two ways (two drivers) or three ways (three drivers) determines the set-up of the audio system and direction and dispersion of the sound. However, two or three ways does not necessarily indicate the quality of the sound. This means that a three-way system does not always deliver better sound, or vice versa, since there many factors such as design and technology involved. Here are some of the hi-end speaker systems that make your life easier.

The Dynaudio Systems 360 is a three-way speaker system. It includes a MW 170 eight-inch, one-piece cone woofer with a three-inch aluminium voice coil, three-inch soft dome midrange with three-inch aluminium voice coil, sealed and acoustically damped rear chamber, and 1.1-inch neodymium dual-magnet soft dome tweeter, plus all hardware, grilles and crossover.

Audiophile quality crossover is adjustable for three different tweeter operational modes - phase correct, shallow slope crossover and die-cast basket. Frequency response is 40Hz-25kHz with 92dB sensitivity ratio and 200 watts of continuous RMS. Overall sound is clean, clear and as sweet as one set of speakers could ever produce.

The Focal 165 KF is a two-way speaker system, including a 165mm woofer with 25mm voice coil. It features a world-renowned Tioxyd 5 inverted dome with TN47 tweeter, which delivers great high notes down to the midrange, making it great for playing with all kinds of vocal and acoustic music. The 160 watts of continuous RMS will add a kick to your audio pleasure and truly let you experience the spirit of sound. Frequency response is 60Hz-20KHz with 91dB sensitivity and 200 watts of continuous RMS. Most Focal speaker systems deliver lively midrange natural sound with weighty scale at the low end.

The Morel Supremo 6 is a world-renowned hi-end speaker system from Israel. The four-ohm, two-way system offers car audio enthusiasts a combination of state-of-the-art technological savvy and superior sound reproduction.

Designed to confront the unique challenges of car audio, it has 200 watts of continuous RMS with the capacity to bear peak signal inputs up to 1,000 watts. Frequency response is 25-25000Hz.

The Supremo utilises a three-inch Hexatech aluminium voice coil. Supremo's 2.65-inch dome tweeters are renowned for their transient response, wide dynamic range and natural sound, while the 6.5-inch woofers have high power handling capability and very low and natural bass-notes extension.

The Morel Supremo 6 features a linear dynamic under-hung voice coil configuration, which allows the voice coil to move in a significantly higher magnetic field and remain there during operation.

This configuration enables linear excursion of the coil and higher magnetic flux, eliminating inter-modulation distortion and unwanted heat while considerably improving the dynamic range, transient response and efficiency.

These three speaker systems are regarded as in the high-end category, so I think you'll never go wrong with any of them. The only difference is style and character, which of course vary according to one's preferences.

Whichever you choose, you'll guarantee yourself the right stuff.
