Exam project underway

Mathayom 6 students participate in the "Intensive Tutoring for Entrance Exam" project, co-hosted by Nation Group and MAMA products from Monday until Saturday at Bangkok's University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

The project began yesterday and will run until Saturday in each of the country's four regions.

Dr Sumet Yaemnoon, secretary-general of the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC), told the opening ceremony yesterday at Bangkok's University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce the students would have an opportunity to study with the project in preparation for university entrance exams.

The project was well receiv-ed this year, as 58,000 students from 2,000 schools applied to take part, said Adisak Lim-prungpatanakit, the president of Nation Broadcasting.

The project also received good cooperation from universities in the four regions. Those taking part include: the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce for Central Thai-land; Chiang Mai University for the North; Khon Kaen Univer-sity for the Northeast; and Wal-ailak University for the South.

To cater to students unable to attend, True Corporation will air classes via broadband Inter-net to more than 100 schools nationwide, said Adisak. When the project ends, students can follow with re-runs aired on Nation TV or at the Mama, True and Nation Group websites, he added.

Surat Ketrattanakul, marketing manager 2 of Sahapa-thanapibul Plc, the manufacturer of Mama instant noodles, said the project was popular because it had more than 20 famous tutors such as "Ping D'Avance".

The project also had updated content, tutoring methods and advice to succeed in the Ordinary National Educational Test (O-Net), the Advanced National Educational Test (A-Net). This is provided to participants free of charge, he added. The project would develop in the next few years to help students get into their desired institutes, Surat said.

This year it is expected that about 56 per cent of the students would pass the university admission test.

A student from Chai Nat Pittayakhom School, Thana-wan Kladsuk, said the project was very useful for Mathayom 6 students because many students did not have enough time to revise on their own because they spent a lot of time in school activities and class work. She said she wanted the project to continue every year to help other students enhance their knowledge in preparation for the university entrance exams.
