HRH's fashionable night at the Opera

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana launched her women's ready-to-wear spring-and-summer collection at Paris Fashion Week at the Opera Garnier on Saturday.

It was attended by her father,  His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, Her Royal Highness Princess Srirasmi, and His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti.

The show, called "Presence of the Past", caught the attention of Paris's fashion elite and world media as evident from the demand for tickets.

There were also numerous requests for interviews and photo shoots with the princess by different media. She is the first designer from Thailand to show at the prestigious event and is the fashion week's youngest presenter of a collection.

Saturday was the week's opening day and Princess Sirivannavari set off for the Opera Garnier at 2pm to prepare for the 7pm show.

Backstage, the princess gave interviews to 20 world renowned media, including Gamma, Agence France-Presse, Fashion Guide TV (Germany), RTL Television (Germany), VTM Television (Belgium), Hair Magazine (UK). She was also interviewed by famous fashion journalists Marie-Ange Horlaville from France 3 television, and Viviane Blassel from TF1.

Asked by Blassel why she had chosen Paris Fashion Week to make her international debut, the Princess said: "As we all know, Paris is the capital of fashion. When one talks about fashion, one thinks of Paris. Moreover, Paris Fashion Week is the foremost fashion scene of the world. Definitely, I love Paris."

After her interaction with the media, Princess Sirivannavari returned to give the finishing touches to her show, checking details, clothes, hair and makeup, models and the sequence.

By evening, the Opera Garnier was crowded with around 200 VIPs and celebrities, including French Commerce and Industry Minister Christine Lagarde, famous French designer Yara Lapidus, Kenzo boutique's Kenzo Tanada, Benoit Louis Vuitton and French ambassador to Thailand Laurent Bili.

More than 400 people watched the show that was covered by about 200 journalists from some of the world's leading newspapers and magazines.

The collection of 39 outfits started with a white cocktail dress in silk and tulle.The finale was a red silk cocktail dress embroidered with gold.

When Princess Sirivannavari stepped on stage after the presentation, she was greeted by loud applause and her father, HRH the Crown Prince, presented her a big bouquet for her success.
