Sombat named
The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand's board yesterday approved the appointment of Sombat Santijaree as the agency's new governor.
He received the highest score from the selection committee, and his name will be forwarded for Cabinet approval.
Sombat, a long-time employee of the state utility, is now a deputy governor for power generation. He will succeed Kraisri Karnasutra, whose term ends on November 11.
Glow cleans upGlow Energy has hired specialists to assist the company in the clean-up of a diesel leak into Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate's discharge canal in Rayong.
The company said it had also initiated a cause analysis in order to learn how the leak occurred and prevent future such incidents.
"Glow reiterates that it takes very seriously its responsibility towards the local community and the environment. This is the first time such an incident has taken place, and the company regrets it."
A quantity of diesel leaked out on Thursday. In response, barricades were set up to prevent the fuel from reaching the Gulf of Thailand, and measures were taken to remove it from the canal, the company said.
