KFC snacksKFC has redesigned its menu by cutting down fried chicken and adding more snacks to capture young customers.
KFC's Nijaporn Chongudomrerk yesterday said fried chicken's share would go drop from 70 per cent to 40 per cent, while snacks like chicken wings, shrimp and cheese would enjoy a bigger presentation. A marketing budget of Bt20 million has been allocated to promote the new line of food items.
Without the adjustment, KFC could experience slow growth, because snacks are popular dishes in Asia and act as magnets to draw young diners who like to use the outlets as places to hang out, she said.
Young diners are new targets of KFC aside from families. Since early this year, KFC has launched four or five new snacks, and a few more will be introduced by the end of the year.
More patronage would help the chain achieve its 10-per-cent sales target, she added.
Siemens' bid
The Siemens Transportation Systems Group has confirmed its interest in participating in the Skytrain extensions and other mass-transit projects planned for greater Bangkok.
In April, it clarified its view on the recent bid for the 2.2-kilometre Skytrain extension.
It had submitted an offer below the published budget by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and offered to complete the implementation of the 2.2km extension, fully integrated with the existing network, within 12 months.
In May, Siemens also proposed an attractive frame contract for both the Silom and Sukhumvit extensions.
