Noppadol acquitted in Hangthong's murder

The Criminal Court Friday acquitted Noppadol Thammawattana in the charge that he took part in the murder of his elder brother, Hangthong Thammawattana.

The court ruled that substantial evidences showed that Hangthong committed a suicide. The court reasoned that there was no trace of drug in Hangthong's blood and Hangthong wrote a letter one day before his suicide, asking his siblings to stop fighting for the legacy of the family.

After the court ruling, Noppadol later also called on the Medical Council to take action against Khunying Porntip Rojanasunan for alleged breach of medical ethic related to the case of Hangthong.

Noppadol made the call after the Criminal Court acquitted him in the charge in which he was accused of masterminding the murder of his brother, Hangthong.

He was filed the charge against after Porntip, acting director of the Forensic Science Institute, performed an autopsy on Hangthong and concluded that Hangthong was murdered. But the court on Friday ruled that evidences pointed out that Hangthong committed suicide.

Noppadol said Porntip breached the medical ethic to help then prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to have a reason to push for the enactment of Special Investigation Department bill.
