Muang Yasothon police station Superintendent Rojawat Rattanaruangpinyo, Inspector Lt-General Preecha Sarathi, Deputy Superintendent Lt-General Samniang Leujiang-kham and Investigator Major Pijit Pijarn were sacked.

All the officers, excluding Samniang, who was not present at the police station at the time of the attack, will also face criminal prosecution. Samniang was sacked for not taking action despite having direct responsibility.

Yasothon police chief, Maj-General Suphan Prasertsom and Pol Colonel Ongart Piewruangnont, who was acting provincial police chief at the time of the attack, face 5-per-cent salary cuts for three months, in relation to the matter.

Pol Lt-Colonel Chalermkiat Jantornmaha, a deputy superintendent at the Muang Yasothon police station, was ordered to do guard duty for three days as a punishment. Chalermkiat was not at the police station when the attack took place. However, he was punished for not taking any action after learning about the incident.

The attack on Pol Sergeant Arthit Daengdee took place on September 1 when he was forced to apologise to the local politician inside Yasothon police station and beaten unconscious. Junior policemen in the province staged a protest. Following the protest, Provincial Police Region 3 deputy commander Maj-General Amnuay Mahaphol stepped in to investigate the case.
