Arrest warrant issued for Surin

Thai court on Tuesday approved the arrest warrant for Surin Upatkoon, a Thai millionaire whose business base is in Malaysia who was accused of acting as a foreign investor's nominee in Kularb Kaew Co Ltd.

Thai police has so far named him as the only suspect in the nominee case.

Kularb Kaew the major shareholder of Cedar Holdings, which in turn is a major shareholder in Shin Corp Plc. In January last year, Cedar Holdings and Aspen Holdings represented a group of investors including Singapore's Temasek Holdings in taking over the majority stake in Shin Corp which later spurred political instability.
