
The rice stocks from the 2004-2006 harvests will open for both domestic traders and exporters.
Pisut Chalakornkul, president of the Public Warehouse Organisation, said that the rice on auction would from the government's stockpiles and was seized from President Agri Trading, which had won bidding in 2004 but failed to remove it from the government's warehouses.
"The bidding will open before this Friday after Deputy Commerce Minister as chairman of the rice release committee ink on an approval," he said.
Of the total 700,000 tonnes, about 100,000 tonnes is jasmine rice, and the remaining is 5-per cent grade B white rice.
