Bangkok's wushu team, mostly comprising national athletes, dominated both the men's and women's categories.
The run-away leaders, who top the table with 107 gold, performed poorly in the weightlifting competition, failing to claim even bronze in all classes where the day's largest proportion of golds (nine) was on offer.
In basketball, Bangkok's women's team outclassed Chon Buri 113-65 to set up a final showdown with Phatum Thani, who beat Ang Thong 74-58.
Rayong, however, punctured Bangkok's hopes of the same feat in the men's with a stunning comeback win. Rayong won 59-52.
In the beach volleyball, Bangkok won both the men's and women's events to enter the semi-finals.
Chiang Mai yesterday dominated the rowing, winning five gold out of six at stake and tightened their grip on second overall with 35 gold, eight adrift of third-place Suphan Buri.
There also was a joy for the hosts in the Muay Thai competition after their fighters swept four out of 10 gold medals available on the day. A total of 47 gold medals are on offer today, with the highlight on the boxing finals.
