Public Health urged to break licenses of 4 cancer drugs

The National Health Security Office will ask the Public Health Ministry to break licenses of four cancer drugs, the office chief said Sunday.

Doctor Sanguan Nittayaramphong, secretary-general of the National Health Security Office, the office would ask the ministry to use "compulsory licensing" measure on Imatinib, Docetaxel, Erlotinib and Letrozole.

He said a committee of his office saw that the CP measure was needed to make the drugs, which are too expensive, to be accessible to the mass.

He said the CL measure would make the generic drugs of the four cancer drugs to be about 40 times cheaper.
