Tax evasion case to be concluded in this govt
The tax evasion case against the children of former premier Thaksin Shinawatra would be concluded in the term of this government, said Sanit Rangnoi, director general of the Revenue Department.
He said Pinthongtha and Panthongthae submitted a petition to the Revenue Department last week after the department sent them a notice to pay personal income tax worth Bt11.3 billion.
Along with the petition, the two had to pledge their property or money equal to the overdue taxes, he said.
The two are accused of evading tax on capital gains made by buying Shin Corp shares from Ample Rich Investment Ltd at a cheap price then reselling them to Singapore's Temasek Holdings at a higher price early last year.
The tax scandal partly caused Thaksin to lose his job.
