Thailand Open final playing list announced

Six of the world's top 10 players headline the final playing list competing in the USD550,000 Thailand Open from September 22-30 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.

Tournament organizers BEC-Tero have unveiled the final list which is headlined by world #2 Rafael Nadal, #3 Novak Djokovic, #5 Andy Roddick, #8 David Ferrer, #9 Tomas Berdych and #10 Tommy Haas.

"We were absolutely delighted when we had half of the world's top 10 confirmed," said BEC-Tero Managing Director Brian L. Marcar. "But with David Ferrer's amazing run to the semi-finals at the US Open last week, he now jumps into the top 10 as well. Our field is on par with some of the ATP's Masters Series events."

Other stars competing include Sweden's Thomas Johansson, Joachim Johansson and Robin Soderling, Croatian giant Ivo Karlovic, Korea's Hyung-Taik Lee, German Benjamin Becker and Russian Dmitry Tursunov.

Also confirmed are Americans Vince Spadea, Sam Querrey and Michael Russell, Spaniards Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco, Argentina's Jose Acasuso, Diego Hartfield and Carlos Berlocq, Austrian Werner Eschauer, Michael Llodra and Nicolas Mahut from France, and Frank Dancevic from Canada.

Thailand's Danai Udomchoke has received a wildcard into the tournament main draw. Recipients of the final two wildcards will be announced next week.

"With the race on for only eight places in the season-ending Masters Cup in Shanghai, the ranking points from the Thailand Open will be particularly important for Roddick, Ferrer, Berdych and Haas who are still trying to secure a place in the Shanghai field," Mr. Marcar added. "They will be determined to perform well in Bangkok. It is going to be an amazing tournament."

Promising Thai junior XXXX has requested and received a wildcard into the Qualifying Draw.

The draw ceremony for the main draw of the event will be held on Sunday September 23 at 2pm.

Tickets for the Qualifying Rounds are 300 baht, while tickets for first round and second round matches are 500 and 800 baht.

Tickets for quarter-finals, which will be held on September 28, semi-finals on September 29 and the finals on September 30 are 1,000 and 1,500 baht per session.

Thailand Open tickets are available at all Thai Ticketmajor outlets or by calling 0 262 3456 or at www.thaiticketmajor.com. VIP Boxes are available by calling 02 262 3900.
