Danai Udomchoke Granted Wild Card to Thailand Open

Thailand's Danai Udomchoke has been granted a wildcard into the main draw of this month's ATP Thailand Open.

The Thailand's number two player is currently ranked #111 after reaching a career-high #77 in January this year. With his higher ranking, 2007 has seen Danai compete in fewer of the second-tier Challenger events and more of the top level ATP Tour events. However, after a good showing at the Australian Open where he made the third round beating Juan Carlos Ferrero before losing in four sets to Novak Djokovic, the tougher competition of playing against higher-ranked opponents on a daily basis has resulted in 2007 being a little disappointing for the Bangkok native.

Danai will still be expecting to do well at his home event. Last year he reached the second round before going down to American Robby Ginepri, and with the local fans behind him he will be aiming to do even better this year.

"We are pleased to give Danai a wildcard for the Thailand Open," said Organizing Committee co-chairman Chaiyapak Siriwat. "He has performed consistently at the tournament in past years and we expect him to do well again this year."

The Thailand Open will be held at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani from September 22-30. Tickets are available through all Thaiticketmajor outlets or by calling 02 262 3456. A small number of VIP Boxes are still available via the VIP Hotline at 02 262 3900.
