Transport minister targeted for censure debate
The National Legislative Assembly's committee on transport vowed on Thursday to censure Transport Minister Theera Haocharoen and his deputy Sansern Wongcha-um for poor performance.
"The 10-member committee has reached an unanimous decision to grill Theera and Sansern for lapse of duty relating to many transport projects," committee chairman Admiral Bannawit Kengrien said.
Bannawit said he would allow the two to rebut charges in a hearing to be scheduled soon. If they failed to attend the hearing, the committee would file a censure motion, he said.
Committee member Paisal Puetmongkol voiced confidence that the panel could get the 42 signatures from the 200 lawmakers needed to endorse the censure.
