Johnson Controls has closed its manufacturing facility, York Industrial (Thailand) Ltd, in Laem Chabang, Chonburi, Thailand. York is a brandname for air conditioners.
The building, machinery and other fixed assets have been sold to SNC Former PLC, a local Thai company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
The company is working with other Johnson Controls entities, SNC and local industries within the area on employment opportunities for the 331 employees. The company had engaged the relevant local government authorities and workers union in the YIT plant closure process. Generous severance compensation more than Thai labor laws has been offered.
The sales and service operations of Johnson Controls and the YORK brand in Thailand will not be affected by the factory closure. Johnson Controls remains committed to Thailand and this closure will not impact ongoing operations in the country where we have more than 500 employees in 7 offices, the company said in its release.
Johnson Controls will continue to focus on offering our Thai customers something no other vendor can deliver - sustainable, onestop lifecycle solutions, from HVAC&R systems including chillers, mini split, building controls, fire and security solutions as well as services to ensure comfortable and costeffective buildings.
