Leading lifestyle brand DKNY thrilled Bangkok fashionistas recently with the same runway collection displayed at the New York Fashion Week. It made for a spectacular show that earned loud applause.
Thai supermodels strutted and sashayed down the catwalks at Central World's Centara Grand Hotel in front of celebrities dressed in stylish New York gear. The view from the 23rd floor of the hotel brought to mind the skyline of the Big Apple, the city that inspired Donna Karan's latest fall collection.
This autumn's trendy women are wearing chic but simple outfits, super-short and shimmering. Bases are as black as the night sky and sweetened by explosions of pink, ultra-violet, acid and berry
The new suits came in two silhouettes from the hips down, with longer, leaner jackets over miles of leg and a micro mini, or alternatively super-wide pleated pants. Sporty comfort was offered through an oversized tweed anorak or a hand-knitted sweater worn over a little shift.
Dresses came in a double-faced metallic knit with twists of silk or sequins, while skirts were sexy and sweet, crinkled and ruffled or with a sculpted flip.
Every coat was packed with urban personality, with the Janus-faced flip coat and the acid coloured, crisp satin parka drawing loud applause from spectators.
Accessories delivered the final punch of the women's collection, and included the "wear it with pride" logo on jewellery and belts, knit berets, sequin-stretch belts, glittering clutches and the iconic Mary Jane spectator platforms that contrast colour and texture, gravity and height.
The menswear collection got moody, with the colours of the night. Suits were soft-shouldered and lean, worn with a crisp shirt, skinny tie and a flash of coloured knit or scarf.
Black jeans were paired with a rubber-coated nylon parka or topped off with a classic reversible coat.
