Another step on amended Joint Venture Act
The Cabinet on Tuesday gave a nod to the amendment to the Public-Private Joint Venture Act.
While the existing law requires projects worth Bt1 billion or more to be scrutinised by a committee represented by officials from various agencies, under the amended law, projects worth Bt3 billion or more are subjected to the scrutiny.
Finance Minister Chalongphob Sussangkarn said the amended law is designed to close loopholes of existing act enacted since 1992, as politicians often circumvent the law for their personal interest.
Several projects approved by the Thaksin government are now reviewed by the Council of State for possible violation of the act.
