Department of Special Investigation (DSI) officials told the court that both suspects avoided meeting with investigators twice to defend themselves against the charges. Their alleged offence carries penalties which are validated for arrest warrants to be issued.
Besides the Supreme Court's Political Tribunal for Holders of Political Office in August approved arrest warrants for both on the Ratchadapisek land purchase for failure to turn up at the first hearing.
DSI deputy director-general Pornchai Assawawattanaporn who was summoned alone without Thaksin's lawyer presence to hear the court order said since both suspects are overseas, the DSI will co-ordinate with the Office of Attorney General to start the legal proceedings in regard to the execution of the warrants in accordance to extradition treaty and other legal avenues in order to bring back Thaksin and Pojaman.
Pornchai said the DSI will this month quetion SC Asset Corp authorised director Busaba Damapong after she surrendered to hear charges against her on August 17.
Pichit Chuenban, a lawyer for Thaksin said Thaksin and his wife will definitely return to fight the charges but after the general election and the new government is formed.
