Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont will lead his Cabinet members to defend the bill.

Political observers said some dissatisfied NLA members may use the chance to censure the government's performance so that the debate would be in the spotlight.

AEC Shin probe

Nam Yimyaem, chairman of the Assets Examination Committee, will today convene a meeting of the full committee to consider the findings submitted by the Bank of Thailand regarding transactions involving some 200 people. The AEC requested the central bank to investigate the transactions of the 200 after suspecting that they were somehow related to the Bt73 billion earned from the sale of Shin Corp shares by the family of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The AEC asked the bank to check both domestic and foreign transactions.

Election bills

Prasong Soonsiri, chairman of the NLA special committee vetting three organic bills, will hold a meeting in Pattaya on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The committee is vetting the Election Commission bill, the political parties bill and the MPs and senators election bill.
