Bannawit: SRT officials are pleasing Central Group

Bannawit Kengrien, chairman of the National Legislative Assembly's Transport Committee, said on Monday that the committee has received document from an appraisal company which indicated collusion among officials of the State Railway of Thailand and the SRT's concessionaire Central Group.

Bannawit said that the appraisal company's document showed that SRT's officials invited in writing representatives of Central Group to a meeting with the committee tasked to select an SRT land tenant.

He said that this is an unusual practice given that Central is a tenant and its assets must also be appraised. If tenants were invited to the meeting, others should have been invited, not just Central Group, he said.

"This practice is stated clearly in the Public-Private Joint Venture Act BE2535. But this showed secret meetings with Central and the attempt to benefit Central Group. The committee will interrogate SRT officials whose names appeared in the invitation letter on September 6. Then, we will consider whether to prosecute the officials," he said.
