Bangkok has been voted the world's third-best city destination by readers of respected travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
The vote is part of the magazine's annual survey, World's Best Awards 2007. T+L readers seek authentic experiences of place, whether it's art and architecture in favourite European destinations like Prague and Florence (which topped the pole for the third time); the urban excitement of New York or Hong Kong; or the exotic culture of cities such as Fez, Udaipur or Istanbul. Bangkok, third behind Buenos Aires and Florence, is one of only two Asian cities to make it into T+L's top 10. The other, Udaipur in India, is seventh on the list.
