The second phase of Phuket Pavilions will add 24 units to the existing 30 at Layan Beach, in north Phuket's Bang Tao.
A visit to the site reveals the first phase been so successful that demand for a new batch of resort homes was unavoidable.
The second phase comprises a terraced configuration of luxury homes built on a slope, offering scenic views of the hills and valley below.
In all, there will be six two-bedroom penthouses and 18 two-bedroom suites.
All these units will have their own private pool and prices start from Bt15 million.
The homes are an investment vehicle, which offers a minimum 7-per-cent return to buyers for the first three years.
Buyers get to use the units for 30 days a year.
The operator and developer, LS pavilion Development, expects the project to be completed by September next year.
It is also planning to build another resort project in nearby Krabi province.
One of the reasons why Pavilions sold well was its proximity to the beach and Laguna resort & Hotels, a 1,000-rai estate, which is regarded as one of the world's best.
Pavilion is located on Layan Beach facing Bang Tao Bay, which is increasingly becoming more popular with visitors who want to a void the clutter and noise at Patong.
About three years ago, 21 one-bedroom villas for purely rental purposes were built with nine massive resort homes - each covering 665 square metres of usable space - were sold off.
The price of these units started from Bt16.5 million.
The idea of buying homes inside a hotel compound works well, says Bill Barnett, managing director of C9 Hotelworks, a consultant for the project.
"Buyers feel comfortable that their units are inside a secured area. They like the idea that their properties are being looked after and managed by professional staff that come with the hotel," said Barnett.
"They also like the fact that they can receive all the support services that are provided by the establishment, such as 24-hour room service."
Pavilion's architecture is based on "Bali-contemporary" styles. The chain also operates the Bali Pavilions property at Indonesia's premier resort island.
