Atletico Madrid sign Motta, sell Luccin - doubts about Riquelme

According to AS on Friday, Atleti will pay around 1.5 million euros (2.05 million dollars) for Motta, who will undergo medical checks and be presented to the media on Friday evening.

 Motta has hardly played for Barca in the past two years and coach Frank Rijkaard was keen to see the back of him.

 Atletico were also interested in taking Rafa Marquez from Barca, but Rijkaard has refused to let the Mexican go.

 Atletico, meanwhile, will be paid around 2.8 million euros by Zaragoza for Luccin, who has preferred to stay in "la Liga" rather than leave for the English Premier League.

 The big decision that Atletico need to take on Friday - the last day of the summer transfer window - is whether to sign Juan Roman Riquelme from Villarreal.

 On Thursday it seemed that Atleti were prepared to pay around seven million euros for the controversial Argentine playmaker.

 By Friday, however, there seem to be doubts. Coach Javier Aguirre - who guided his team into the UEFA Cup on Thursday with a 2-1 win away to Vojvodina - appears concerned that he would have to completely change his tactics in order to incorporate the talented but often ponderous Riquelme.
