"TMB, in consultation with an independent financial adviser, has reassessed the carrying value of goodwill to determine the future economic benefits of that goodwill. Based on the result of this reassessment, the goodwill of Bt12.24 billion was written off in the first half of 2007. Normal duties
Thai shrimp exports will enjoy normal import tariffs in the US again after the final judgement by the World Trade Organisation against that country's "zeroing" policy, a special calculation practice that imposed anti-dumping charges on shrimp imported from Ecuador.
The judgement resulted in the US Commerce Department cancelling its 4.42-per-cent anti-dumping charge on shrimp imports from Ecuador from August 15.
The US Southern Shrimp Alliance said the WTO's judgement would force that country to withdraw its anti-dumping duty on Thai shrimp, as well.
Car alliance
Sri Muang Insurance said it had joined a campaign with a Japanese carmaker to improve its marketing.
"Sri Muang Insurance regularly introduces new insurance services, to cater to the needs of our customers. The most recent one to be launched is Auto Smile, which has been well received by individual customers. Another interesting marketing initiative was the formation of alliances with a Japanese carmaker to offer attractive insurance campaigns," said executive vice president Lhuckchai Suttichujit.
