Megaman sheds light on strategy

After spending five years in Thailand expanding its distribution network mainly through traditional retail outlets, Megaman (Thailand), the local sales and marketing operation of Hong Kong-based Neonlite Electronic and Lighting, yesterday announced a major revamping of its strategy.

Executive director Tawatchai Phattharasereewong said the company had reshaped its business strategy towards a marketing-driven company aimed at improving awareness of its Megaman brand.

Thailand's fist Megaman concept store was officially opened yesterday in Bangkok's Sukhumvit Soi 55 (Soi Thonglor), to promote awareness of the brand and display the latest product line-up. The company has repositioned Megaman as a premium brand.

Neonlite is among the world's top three manufacturers of energy-saving lamps and lighting products. Megaman is the company's global brand in many markets.

"We're a new brand still not recognised by Thai consumers," said Tawatchai. "And with the new strategy, we aim at improving awareness of the brand, particularly among individual consumers who demand premium quality energy-saving lamps with trendy designs."

"In addition to the first Megaman concept store in Bangkok in Soi Thonglor, we plan to open … in each region throughout the Kingdom in the next three to five years," said Tawatchai.

The firm also plans to open concept stores in other parts of Bangkok, such as in the Pinklao, Bang Na and Phaholyothin areas.

Tawatchai said Megaman (Thailand) achieved Bt29 million in sales last year. It expects to increase sales to Bt34 million this year.
