The housemaid of one year, Dedsuda Wangkachat, 27, told police that after Tarisa left home at 10am, the thief climbed into the house and stole the valuables before fleeing. The maid said she was in a restroom when the theft took place.
Finding no trace of forced entry and hearing Dedsuda's confusing testimony, police suspected she might be involved and searched through her room and work areas including an ironing room where the valuables were found in a plastic bag hidden in a clothes basket.
The maid, who was arrested for stealing, cried and refused to give any testimony. Tarisa forgave the maid and said she wished not to file a police compliant against Dedsuda but police were obliged to press charges because this was a criminal case.
Dedsuda was later found to be a Laotian carrying a false Thai identity card and was further charged with forgery and illegal entry.
