Blues agree fee for Belletti

London - Chelsea agreed a fee with Barcelona Thursday to sign their Brazilian right-back Juliano Belletti.

Manager Jose Mourinho had hoped to sign Daniel Alves from Sevilla, but Chelsea could not agree a fee with the UEFA Cup winners.

A club statement said: "Chelsea Football Club and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the transfer of Juliano Belletti, subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical."

The 31-year-old scored the winning goal for Barcelona against Arsenal in the Champions League final in 2006.

Alves is now expected to join Real Madrid, who have also completed the signing of Chelsea winger Arjen Robben for a fee believed to be around 25 million pounds (50 million dollars).
