Rabiabrat Pongpanich
Rabiabrat - who is due to be officially named at a press conference tomorrow - said she accepted the offer because she wanted to help the GPO, a government agency. She planned to give the Bt80,000 payment to the Happy Family Association that she chairs.
"I don't normally have facial treatments and never have a facial massage so my skin is quite dry with some melasma. In the past, I found no facial cream that was right for me until I used the GPO's Curmin Face Cream, after which many people noticed that my face had become more radiant. So I suggested they use the cream, and then persuaded my husband and children," she said.
GPO deputy director Wanchai Suppajaturas said the advertising company proposed the idea to have a real cream user as the ad presenter and Rabiabrat, who has used the cream for three years, agreed that it was effective.
He said the GPO did not want to use models or actresses to lure people into using the cream.
Wanchai said they came up with a marketing plan for GPO cosmetics because sales had declined in the past three years, and last year plunged by 30 per cent - compared to the Bt300 million in sales in the first period after the product was launched.
The GPO has developed several products including toners and a face-washing gel, and will launch an eye gel and body lotion under the GPO Curmin product line later this year.
