AsiaSoft Corporation Co., Ltd. the number one online game service provider in Thailand and Asia has selected the low-voltage quad-core Intel Xeon processor L5320 with to support the new web server and online game service named 'Cabal'.
The popular online game has more registered users than any online game in Thailand and also holds the record for the number of concurrent users.
The new low-voltage quad-core Intel Xeon processor L5320 running at 2GHz clock speeds inside a power envelope of 50 watts - or 12.5 watts per processing core - represents a 35 to nearly 60 percent decrease in power from Intel's existing 80 and 120-watt quad-core Intel Xeon processor products.
Compared to the dual-core Xeon processor, the Quad-Core Xeon processor delivers a 40-60 percent increase in performance at the same system power envelope.1 As IT departments increasingly focus on reducing electricity bills and cooling costs associated with computing infrastructure, these new processors, requiring just 12.5 watts of power for each of the four cores, deliver similar performance yet set a new standard in energy efficiency.
Pramote Sudjitporn, Chief Executive Officer of Asiasoft Corporation, said by using the low-voltage quad-core Intel Xeon processor, the company could increase performance and customers satisfaction. It also enables the company to have up to 200,000 concurrent users and also reduces lag time.
AsiaSoft has also upgraded the server to 32 channels in order to fully support the demand of its customers. The new server which is also used to support web server gives 2.5 times higher performance2
Pramote added that apart from using this quad-core Intel Xeon processor to support the launch of Cabal in Thailand, the company planned to use this new processor for the launch of this game in other countries in the region such as Singapore and Vietnam.
Supaluk Suptatangtrakul, Business Development Manager, Intel Microelectronics (Thailand) Ltd added that the low-voltage quad-core Intel Xeon processor L5320 series would help businesses such as those in the graphics and animations industry increase performance by providing threading headroom for multi-threaded applications and heavy multi-tasking scenarios, plus helping to boost application responsiveness.
By using technology for energy efficiency it will help companies reduce their cooling challenges, giving them more performance and services per square foot.
