A sister of Jaral Khadphanno, 43, said she thought her brother had become over-emotional about his wife while being high on painkillers. He had begun taking the pills last year when she left his Bangkok apartment to live with a boyfriend.
Sawaeng Khadphanno said Jaral drank three to four cups of coffee mixed with painkillers every day after returning to Roi Et from Bangkok in a bid to win his wife back. Jaral had worked for an optician but quit when his wife left him.
His body was found yesterday morning with one brassiere wound around his neck.
Blood was coming from his mouth and nostrils but there were no wounds or signs of assault.
Sawaeng said Jaral had brought his wife's clothes back to his Roi Et home when he moved from Bangkok. He started working in construction while living with his sister.
Dr Thanakorn Klangsaeng of Muang Roi Et Hospital said he suspected Jaral had had a heart attack, but an autopsy was needed to confirm the cause of death.
He said Jaral could have died three hours before his body was found at 5.30am yesterday.
