The first collision came after his victim, Payap Sawekprom, decided to ride her motorcycle into his following a chase.
"It was him who cut in front of my motorcycle, causing me to fall, and it was him who took the gold necklace from my neck," Payap said.
She said the thief quickly sped off but she got up and went after him. "I banged my motorcycle into his to stop him from escaping," she said.
However, she said Channarong managed to get up although he appeared to have hurt his leg.
"So, I shouted for help and another man did me a favour," Payap said.
Supap Injan, a 37-year-old territorial defence volunteer, also rode his motorcycle into Channarong to stop him fleeing. "With that both his legs were injured and other people helped me arrest him," Payap said.
Muang Nakhon Si Thammarat police Sub-Lieutenant Ekawit Kerdsiri said that Channarong confessed to his misdeeds.
Ekawit questioned Channarong, Payap and Supap at a local hospital because all received injuries in the incident.
