Pongpanu met yesterday with executives from the Government Pension Fund, Social Security Fund and others over the bond market in the next fiscal year.

The ministry might issue bonds worth Bt60 billion to Bt80 billion with a five-year maturity and 10-year bonds of about Bt80 billion, he said. The money will fund the budget deficit for the year starting in October.

The ministry will issue Bt20 billion worth of bonds with 15- and 20-year maturity in order to supply the market with long-term bonds, he said. Bond auctions will be held once a month.

Pongpanu said ministerial approval was needed for the bond programme.
