Chalongphob: to get more pays, to improve more productivity

Finance Minister Chalongphob Sussangkarn has told 300,000 staffs of the state enterprises that they would have to improve their productivity if they want a pay rise.

Chalongphob yesterday apparently was unhappy with the recent move of the labour unions of the state enterprises demanding 4 per cent hike of their pays.

He said Finance Ministry wants them to increase their efficiency too. He said employee of state enterprises currently have monthly income higher than the market rate. The study sponsored by the State Enterprise Policy Office found that they get 40 per cent higher pay than work forces in the market, he said.

Union labours of 66 state enterprises demands that their pay should be increased by 4 per cent the same rate as pay rise that the government has given to state officials for next fiscal year, which start in October.

In related development, the Cabinet yesterday approved Finance Ministry proposal of new regulations for government subsidy of state enterprise.
