Satun hit by heavy flooding

Floods have hit two districts in Satun province after several days of heavy rain, affecting residents in 32 villages and damaging agricultural areas.



Canals in Khuan Ka Long district have overflowed due to the rainwater pouring off the surrounding hills, causing floods in three areas, damaging agricultural land and one fish farm, as well as cutting off a road.

Elsewhere, three areas of Tha Phae district have been affected by flooding. Two hundred rai of farmland, 100 rai of rice fields and three fish farms have been damaged.

The provincial governor has ordered the Satun Provincial Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to open a centre to help floodaffected residents.

Meanwhile, flood levels covering three districts in Chiang Rai have dropped, leaving only the Mae Tam and Mae Pao areas of Phaya Meng rai submerged.

The Public Health Ministry has ordered health offices in every province to help those who may be affected by flooding around the clock, especially those in the North, Northeast and South.

Due to continuing heavy rain, provinces most at risk include Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Phayao, Phrae, Nan, Uttaradit, Phetchabun, Nong Khai, Kalasin, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Mukdahan, Ranong, Phang Nga and Trang, according to the Meteorological Department.
