SET ends 1% higher

Thai shares on Friday ended a 5-day loss streak, up 1.03 per cent as investors bet that majority voters would support the weekend referendum on the new constitution and pave the way to the general election as schedule in December.



The Thai stock market bucked the regional loss trend.

 The SET index surged significantly at the opening bell before plunging to intraday's worst level at 732.78. bargain hunting, however, triggered late trade rally and the stock market swung back to close at 758.42. Turnover was moderate at Bt23.55 billion.

 PTT Plc (PTT) rose 0.74 per cent at Bt272, Thai Oil Plc (TOP) remained unchanged at Bt73 and Thoresen Thai Agencies Plc (TTA) was up 1.15 per cent at Bt44.
