The judges initially sentenced Natthasit to death but later commuted the sentence to life imprisonment citing his confession during the trial and his cooperation with police during the investigation.
According to facts verified in the verdict, Natthasit, 27, knew the victim well. He entered the girl's home on November 8 last year and told her to take a shower while he began searching for valuables. He later knifed the girl and slashed her throat after she came out of the shower early and discovered him in the act of stealing.
Natthasit fled with stolen belongings worth around Bt10,000 before he was arrested a few days later.
