Patkol penetrates petrochem industry

Patkol Plc, a system engineering firm, has focused more on serving petrochemical companies.

Piya Chongvatana, managing director, said a team has been established to provide factory equipment for the industry such as pressure vessels, storage tanks, and heat exchangers. For this purpose, Patkol has manufacturing plants at Bang Phli and Ratchaburi.

So far, the business contributes 3 per cent of the company's revenue.

"We aim to increase the ratio to 20-30 per cent," he said, adding that the company has secured 25 clients including IRPC Plc, Bayer (Thai) Co Ltd, and Thai Plastic and Chemicals Plc.

Net profit in the first quarter was Bt22.54 million on revenue of Bt1.15 billion. However, in the first six month, the net profit was only Bt14 million on turnover of Bt2 billion.

Piya admitted that the company has missed its second-quarter earning target, attributing the poor performance to political instability which has discouraged new investment among clients.
