The Urban Development Institute Foundation aims to promote civic involvement in the improvement of the environment.

The project will focus on Tambon Ban Waen in Hang Dong district, where a high number of air-pollution complaints have been submitted to the Region 1 Environmental Office and the tambon administrative organisation.

The one-year scheme began on August 1. Activities will include helping villagers to understand the impact of air pollution on health and the economy, along with suggesting alternatives to burning waste.

The project is being helped by the Join Hands/Join Hearts to Improve Chiang Mai and Lamphun Air Quality Project of the Social Research Institute at Chiang Mai University. The foundation also works with residents, property developers and other businesses in the area.
