Boardriders are invited to catch the big waves on Kata and Karon beaches when the Phuket Surfing Contest 2007 kicks off at the end of this month.

The three-day competition, which runs from August 31 to September 2, is categorised for Long Board Open Division, Short Board Open Division, Grommet Division, Girls Division and Body Board Division.

Last year's event attracted more than 100 professional surfers from Australia, Japan, France and South Africa and more. This year, the event will feature tourism promotions, wave-surfing training, life-saving practice and, of course, plenty of beach partying.

The winners in each division will receive trophies and Bt8,000 in cash. Show up with your board and apply on the spot in August 31. For more information, e-mail info@karoncity.com.
