Local ace Boonsak Ponsana put the Thai team ahead with a convincing 21-13 21-11 win over Liao Sheng-shiun in the men's singles.
In the women's singles, Boonsak's younger sister Salakjit Ponsana helped the Kingdom stretched the lead to 2-0, crushing Pai Min-jie 21-19 21-17. Salakjit had lost to the Taiwanese arch-rival in the two previous meetings.
In the mixed doubles, fellow Thais Sudket Prapakamol and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul wrapped up the match with a come-from-behind 15-21 21-17 21-18 win over Tsai Chia-hsin and Cheng Wen-hsing.
"Today our team played very well and especially Salakjit Ponsana as she beat the Taiwanese who she had never beaten before," said Udom Luangpecharaporn, staff coach.
Thai team next take on China in the final, which the coach fancied that the Thai players have a possibility to win 50 percent.
"We think we have a chance to win in the men's and mixed doubles and if Boonsak beat Chen Hong, it will be easier to get the gold," added Udom.
