The company posted total Internet service revenues of Bt332 million in the second quarter, close to performance in the first quarter. It had 2,463 corporate broadband-Internet subscribers, up 6 per cent quarter on quarter. Each corporate customer has contributed more than Bt30,000 in average monthly revenues to the company.
Also in the second quarter, individual broadband-Internet customer numbers dropped 5 per cent quarter on quarter to 14,033.
Each customer contributed average monthly revenues of Bt1,620.
CS Loxinfo recently applied for several licences from the National Telecommunications Commission, including a license to operate the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax) wireless broadband-Internet access service and a licence to connect its telecom networks directly to customers' homes.
The company yesterday filed a statement with the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) saying its board had approved a share-repurchase programme for financial-management purposes. The total amount paid for the share repurchase will not exceed Bt225 million, and the number of shares repurchased should be 51,700,000 at par value of Bt1 apiece.
Anant said the move was meant to shore up the company's share price during this volatile market period and did not mean the company had to spend all of the allocated amount.
The company reported consolidated second-quarter revenues of Bt656 million, up 6 per cent quarter on quarter and 4 per cent year on year. Its consolidated net profit stood at Bt60 million, up 5 per cent quarter on quarter and 20 per cent year on year. Its share price yesterday closed at Bt4.32, up from Bt4.30 the day before.
Meanwhile, Shin Satellite (ShinSat) reported its consolidated second-quarter sales and service income increased 10.9 per cent quarter on quarter and 22.6 per cent year on year, due to growth in the satellite and telephone business.
In its statement to the SET, it reported a second-quarter net loss of Bt83 million, due mainly to increases in interest and income tax expenses.
But it made a first-half net profit of Bt52 million, up 156.5 per cent against a net loss of Bt92 million in the same period last year.
ShinSat's share price closed yesterday unchanged at Bt10.50.
