Paint R&D
Nippon Paint is opening new research and development sites in China and Thailand to enable it to more quickly meet local demand and thereby boost Asian sales by 60 per cent to US$1.26 billion (Bt42.8 billion) in fiscal 2010, according to Nikkei.
Nikkei reported that the company has secured 500 square meters at its plant in Shanghai and is spending some 300 million yen (Bt1.2 billion) to set up the new R&D site there.
The Chinese centre will conduct basic research into resins, while the Thai plant will focus on developing low-cost automotive paints.
