Yutthapong Charasathien would possibly not be fielded in the general election if he were found "guilty or tainted" of any political misconduct, he said.
Suthep said he disagreed with Yutthapong interfering with the AEC's work. "Yutthapong publicly showed his distrust in the AEC and violated its jurisdiction over the case. It's just not right to me," he added.
The AEC panel is reviewing whether Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin, who is also a deputy Democrat leader, and retired city clerk Nathanon Thavisin should be held accountable for many irregularities detected in the Bt6.67-billion procurement.
Yutthapong earlier met with Nam and key AEC members to express regret for his actions in questioning their roles in the probe. He then gave them a garland in atonement and Nam and the other AEC members accepted his apology.
