The chefs at the award-winning Trader Vic's have gone nuts for August - coconuts. You can celebrate Mother's Day and beyond with a menu featuring a selection of salads, appetisers, main courses and desserts flavoured with the luscious white-fleshed fruit.
They've extended the theme through the drinks list where alongside standard old favourites you'll find new coconut infused refreshments in alcoholic and non-alcoholic form.
The restaurant is located in the south wing of the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa and offers magnificent views of the Chao Phya with its panorama of river life. It's open daily for dinner between 6 and 11pm. Call (02) 476 0022, extension 1416.
Wine and dine
in Khao Yai
The executive chef at the Great Hornbill Grill and Restaurant at the PB Valley Winery in Khao Yai has created a meaty menu specially for August. Highlights include smoked breast of duckling, and Osso Buco (braised veal shank) served with buttered noodles and accompanied with fresh vegetables.
For Mother's Day, mums accompanied by two paying adults can enjoy a special set menu free of charge.
The Great Hornbill is a rustic-style restaurant that serves a tasty selection of Thai, fusion and German food ranging from simple snacks to full gourmet lunches and dinners.
Featuring both indoor and outdoor sections, the restaurant overlooks the Khao Yai winery's vineyards, the fruit of which can be sampled at the Hornbill's regular wine tastings.
