RATCH signed joint development deal for Lao hydro power plant
Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding Plc (RATCH) signed the joint development deal with SK Engineering & Construction (SKEC) and the Lao PDR Government for Xae Pien-Xae Nam Noi hydro power plant in Lao PDR.
The project will have the production capacity of 372 megawatts with electricity generation of 1,927 million kilowatts per hour per year and its investment will be US$668 million, which the company holds 25 per cent in equity.
From the preliminary study, the project has high potential and will, as per shareholding ratio, add 93 megawatts to the company, which is in line with the business plan for investing in power plant outside Thailand and selling back to the country. The electricity will be transmitted into the lower Northeastern area of the country.
