Esco to receive financial injections
The Energy Ministry is prepared to set up an equity fund to invest in energy service companies (Esco), aiming to help them increase energy efficiency in industrial plants.
Presiding over Thailand ESCO Fair 2007 on Wednesday, Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amranand said that it is essential to promote energy saving among industrial plants which, together with business demand, accounts for 44 per cent of the Kingdom's energy consumption.
"Promoting energy saving through energy service companies (Esco) would be a channel that the ministry is looking at. We're looking at the measures to support Esco's operations," he said.
