August 7, 1965: Communist launches "People's War"

The first major gunfire battle between forces of the government and the Communist Party of Thailand (CPT) took place in Na Bua, a remote village of Nakorn Phanom province.



The CPT had regard since then the launch of people's war against dictatorial military government. It imposed a strategy of guarrilla warfare to control remote areas and continually attack major government targets.
