7 injured in pileup on Bangkok road

A minibus Tuesday skidded off its lane, climbed across a safety island and hit several other oncoming vehicles.

Seven people were injured, including the minibus driver, 62yearold Jantee Saengseeda.

The pileup took place near the mouth of Soi Phattanakarn 16 in Bangkok's Suan Luang district.

Jantee told police that his vehicle swerved off its lane after he applied brake at the time it was going down an overpass bridge for Khlong Tan Intersection.

"The last thing I saw was the minibus hurtling towards my car," Surin Saengsee, 38, said from his hospital bed.

Pol Lt Samran Chuaytao, an inspector at the Khlong Tan Police Station, said police would question all witnesses before pressing charges against anyone.
